EastLine Theatre, in association with the Babylon Citizens Council on the Arts, will present Tony Kushner's two-part epic, Angels in America, A Gay Fantasia on National Themes.
A gay man is abandoned by his lover when he contracts HIV, a closeted Mormon's marriage crumbles as his wife slowly has a nervous breakdown, a mother goes in search of her son in the big city, and a nurse tends to corrupt lawyer Roy Cohn as he battles the ghosts from his past. This seminal, Pulitzer Prize-winning play tells the story of these colliding lives in a production crafted for EastLine Theatre's tenth anniversary.
Performances run February 4th through 26th, with a selection of dates available for both part one, Millennium Approaches, and part two, Perestroika. Tickets are available now. Tickets are $25 for each part, with a $5 discount when both parts are purchased together.
It is EastLine Theatre's policy that all patrons must provide proof of vaccination and wear a mask throughout the performance.
EastLine Theatre is a nonprofit theatre company that BroadwayWorld calls 'Long Island's best kept secret'. EastLine aims to create theatre in unlikely spaces while re-examining the canon, exploring modern plays, and bringing original works to the attention of the community.
In recent years, EastLine has produced Prospero (Live), an original musical based on The Tempest; the world premiere of Aly Kantor’s These Gilded Souls, the Long Island premiere of Paula Vogel's Indecent; a production of Treasure Island that BroadwayWorld said was “bursting at the seams with imagination”; and a production of In the Next Room that Long Island Theatre Scene said “raises the bar of creativity for all theaters.”
